How to Farm Shards in Hypixel Skyblock
Shards are one of the best consistent money makers in Hypixel Skyblock heading into mid-2026. Whether you're early game looking for your first few million or endgame trying to maximize hourly income, there's a shard farming method that fits. This guide covers every major shard source, realistic profit numbers, and what gear you need to get started.
Shard Sources Overview
Not all shards are created equal. Here's what's available and roughly how they rank by accessibility and profit:
- Shellwise Shards - from Sea Turtles at /warp murk. Medium difficulty, very consistent income.
- Joydive Shards - from Joydive creatures at /warp murk. Higher difficulty, higher reward per kill.
- Shulker drops - from Shulkers at /warp shulker. Unique mechanic, decent shards.
- Ender Node drops - from mining purple terracotta in The End. Includes Enchanted End Stone, Grand Exp Bottles, Ender Gauntlets.
- Sea Lumies - sea pickle farming at /warp murk. Lower per-unit value but extremely high volume.
Shellwise Shard Farming
This is probably the best all-around shard farming method right now. Sea Turtles spawn regularly at the Murk area in Galatea, and each catch gives you Shellwise Shards.
What you need
- Access to /warp murk (Galatea unlocked)
- A net or catching tool in your hotbar
- Decent swim speed (Depth Strider or equivalent)
- Enough air supply management to stay underwater
The process
Warp to murk, walk into the water, dive down, and start scanning for Sea Turtle entities. When you spot one, swim to it and use your net within about 7.5 blocks. The catch message shows how many shards you got.
Manually, you can realistically catch a turtle every 20-30 seconds if the lobby has decent spawns. That adds up to maybe 120-180 catches per hour. With a good macro that handles pathfinding and target acquisition efficiently, that number goes up because there's zero downtime between catches.
Pro tip: Lobby population matters a lot. If you're competing with 5 other players for turtle spawns, your catches/hour will tank. Try playing during off-peak hours or use lobby hopping to find emptier instances.
Bazaar pricing
Shellwise Shard prices on the Bazaar fluctuate with supply and demand. Always check current prices before committing to a long farming session. The Wielix Client HUD automatically calculates real-time coins/hr based on live Bazaar data so you know exactly what you're earning.
Joydive Shard Farming
Joydives are harder to farm than turtles but more rewarding per kill. The mechanic is unique - it's a two-phase hunt:
- Phase 1: Net throw - find a Joydive, aim, and throw your net. This triggers the Joydive to flee toward its cave.
- Phase 2: Chase and kill - follow it to the cave, wait for it to stop, then spam nets on cooldown (about 0.5 seconds between throws) until it dies.
The chase phase is what makes this tricky. The Joydive swims fast and you need to keep up with it underwater. If you lose track of it, you've wasted the initial net throw.
Profit comparison
Joydive Shards tend to sell for more than Shellwise Shards on the Bazaar, but kills take longer because of the two-phase mechanic. Net coins/hour can be comparable or slightly higher depending on prices. The key advantage is that fewer people farm Joydives (because it's harder), so there's less competition.
Shulker Farming
Shulker hunting at /warp shulker has a completely different vibe from underwater hunting. Here's how it works:
- Warp to the shulker area and scan for Shulker entities
- Walk on top of a shulker and wait for it to open (peek animation)
- Back up about 3 blocks
- The shulker throws bullets at you - hit them back
- Keep hitting bullets until the shulker dies
The "throws the bullet back" and "lost the fight" chat messages tell you when you've hit a bullet and when you've killed the shulker. It's honestly pretty fun to do manually, but after the 500th shulker it gets old fast.
Ender Node Farming
Different from creature hunting but still a solid shard-adjacent money maker. Ender Nodes are purple terracotta blocks in The End that drop various valuable items:
- Enchanted End Stone
- Grand Experience Bottles
- Enchanted Ender Pearls
- Enchanted Obsidian
- Titanic Experience Bottles (rare)
- Ender Gauntlet (rare, very valuable)
How it works
Warp to /warp end, scan a wide area (40+ blocks) for purple terracotta, pathfind to the closest one, mine it, move to the next. The tricky part is Endermites - they spawn when you break nodes and need to be killed before you continue mining. A Fire Veil Wand makes quick work of them.
The strategy is to pre-calculate your next target while mining the current one, so there's zero decision time between nodes. Good implementations render the current target and next target differently so you can see the path being planned in real time.
Sea Lumies (Sea Pickles)
Sea Lumies farming at /warp murk is the high-volume, low-value-per-unit approach. Sea pickles are everywhere underwater, and breaking them is fast - especially with packet-based mining that can break multiple per tick while swimming past.
There are two approaches:
- Nuker mode - sends block break packets while swimming, never stops moving. Higher volume, slightly riskier.
- Legit mode - stops, aims at each pickle, left-clicks, resumes swimming. Slower but looks more natural.
Sea Lumies won't make you as much per hour as hunting, but it's extremely consistent and works well as a background activity.
Maximizing Shard Income
Regardless of which method you choose, these principles apply:
Diversify
Don't do the same thing for 12 hours straight. Alternate between methods. Farm Shellwise for a few hours, switch to Joydives, do some Ender Nodes. This looks more natural and also hedges against Bazaar price changes for any single shard type.
Watch the Bazaar
Shard prices change throughout the day and week. Farm whatever's most valuable right now, not whatever was most valuable yesterday. Real-time Bazaar price tracking in your macro HUD is extremely useful for this.
Time your sessions
Late night and early morning (in your server region's timezone) tend to have fewer players competing for spawns. If you're using a macro with lobby hopping, off-peak hours mean emptier lobbies and more spawns for you.
Gear optimization
Better catching tools, swim speed boosts, and air supply buffs all directly increase your catches per hour. Don't neglect gear upgrades - the ROI is usually quick.
Automation with Wielix Client
Wielix Client has dedicated macros for every shard source mentioned above. The hunting module includes Shellwise, Joydive, Shulker, and several others, all with proper underwater pathfinding, target tracking, and integrated failsafes. The HUD shows real-time stats with live Bazaar price calculations.
Each macro runs as a state machine with proper error handling - if something goes wrong (no targets, stuck on terrain, low air), it recovers automatically instead of just stopping or getting stuck. The failsafe system monitors for staff checks the entire time, using pre-recorded human reactions for maximum safety.
